Willy be mine – A long stemmed flower

This site contains affiliate links and if you purchase something I may be compensated for it.  Which means more free patterns for you!

My Mr. always gets me such beautiful flowers for Valentines day.  So I decided this year I would give him flowers.  and then, like most ideas do, my flower idea morphed.  Next thing I knew I was pulling out some green yarn crocheting a ‘stem’ and a ‘seed pack’ (cant even type this without laughing).  Then grabbed some red yarn and made a flower and added a draw string.  Before I knew it I had created a flower willy warmer…..and I could not stop laughing.

Willy be mine - KatiDCreations.com

Now this is not a actual pattern as I had no intention of designing or trying to make different sizes.  But you can see where you could easily take this idea and a well written pattern of Dearest Debi found HERE and simply add a crocheted flower and secure it to the end and BAM! you have a ‘Willy be mine – A long stemmed flower’ to give to your special someone.

Bullion’s in Bloom

This site contains affiliate links and I may be compensated for items purchased…..which means more FREE patterns for you!

Here is my second 12′ square.  This one did not come near as easily as the first one did! The biggest problem was trying to figure out which stitches I wanted to use.  After several attempts at making a flower that was not turning out anywhere close to what I was picturing in my head; I decided it was time to go in a completely new direction.

Now something you may not know about me is I like to push myself; so I figured why not learn a new stitch!? So after searching around a bit I came across the Bullion Stitch.  This stitch is a beautiful, but apparently it is a bit of a challenge to master; and I now was down to 3 days to master this stitch and design a square using it.  Can we say ‘procrastinate much’?  But, that’s okay; I love the rush as a deadline quickly approaches.

Don’t forget to Favorite this design and add it to your Library in Raverly!

Dit patroon werd in het Nederlands vertaald door HET HAAKBEEST. Je vindt de vertaalde versie *hier*

I have had the privilege of this square being included in Moogly 2015 Afghan CAL!  You can check out the other amazing free 12inch squares HERE

You may need to push the CH3 from Round 2&3 to the back of your work.

With each color change you will finish off and Invisible Join. You can see in the photos below why I have chosen to do this instead of carrying the yarn up each row. The photo on the bottom has a much nicer look than the photo on the top where you can see the different joining’s.

Have you always wanted to try a Chevron stitch pattern but have not been confident enough to give it a try?  Give this Zig ‘n’ Zag – A Sleeved Wrap a try!  It really is a very simple pattern repeat and works up rather quickly!

Waves of Chevron - KatiDCreations.com

There is no long beginning Chain to mess with as it is designed with a Foundation Single Crochet stitch.  However, if you are not comfortable with the Foundation stitch, simply work a CH and SC back across then continue on with Row 1.

This pattern is first worked into a rectangle that looks like a scarf, then you simply stitch together the Foundation Single Crochet row and Edging row to create the sleeves, next you secure all your ends and finally you add the cuffs!  Yes it is really that simple.

Notes:
This pattern is intended to be easily adjusted for almost any size. It is worked in multiples of 10+2 for the stitch count. Star Mittens

This site contains affiliate links and I may be compensated for any purchases made…..which means more FREE patterns for you!

So, this was my first attempt at designing Mittens.  Why? Well, quite honestly, the idea of crocheting thumbs scared me.  But when I heard about a Facebook group called: Crochet Mitten Drive where crocheters would make pairs of mittens to donate to those in need; I knew it was time for me to conquer the ‘fear’ and design a pair of Mittens…. and so I give you the Star Mittens.

Star Mittens - KatiDCreations.com

This pattern is written in 3 different sizes and is surprisingly quick to work up and believe it or not, very few ends to take care of!!!  Not much yarn is needed for these Star Mittens and would be a perfect project to use as a scrap buster!

Oh and the thumbs are not scary I promise!

So as many of you know my stitch of choice (ok, it might border on obsession) is Broomstick Lace. So, I am really excited to share this latest pattern with you; a long sleeved cowl.

The whole process of figuring out how to join the long sleeves together in the easiest possible way kept me awake at night, as I worked it over and over in my head.  Then, surprisingly after just a few attempts, I managed to get what was happening in my brain to transfer to the hook and yarn. (I think I may have actually done a bit of a happy dance)

Modern Red Riding's Hood - KatiDCreations

What do I love about this completed item? – I love how the over sized hooded cowl fully extends over the face, – I love that a portion of the cowl that extends down to the top 3rd of the torso and is so warm, – I love that it is light weight and is a perfect piece of outerwear to use in place of that bulky coat

This stunning project is worked using Cascade Alpaca Lana D’Oro which is so warm!  and is be perfect for those days when its kind of warm but still a cold breeze that would normally have you reaching for a jacket!

Modern Red Riding's Hood - KatiDCreations

The construction of this top it is worked in the round, which means that you don’t have any seams to sew together….which is so nice!  Also the way the armpit area is worked, allows for free range of movement without worrying about it being to tight.

Please don’t let the size of this project over whelm you!  It works up quicker than you may think, and you will be so happy when you finish it!

Special Notes:
1. You will make 2 of the Cuff/Sleeve combinations; do not finish off until instructed to do so

2. I work the entire pattern in the Back Loop (with the exception of joining which is done in both loops). I do this because I love the little extra detail that it gives.

3. This pattern is easily adjustable to fist most any size. This pattern is worked in multiples of 4, so if you need to increase/decrease the cuff you do so by multiples of 4.  If you need to increase/decrease the front/back part (Shoulder R1), you will increase/decrease the number of CHs worked by 4.  You will then simply follow the directions as written, just remember that your total stitch count/sets of Broomstick lace will be different from what is written.

4. If you find that you are a loop short/over it is not necessary to rip out the row and start over. just make sure that your total number of SC stitches worked is correct.

5. I recommend trying on sleeves as you go. You may find that you need to increase/decrease the number of rows worked.
