I have recently learned how to do a Chevron Stitch! and one of the first ideas that came to mind was to do a belt! Now, this belt seemed to design itself. All I thought was belt, and my very vivid mind immediately pictured a wide belt that would be worn high on the waist, it would be slightly stiff and would button close with little buttons.
I love this belt I think it looks so crisp and clean! The buttons are great and allows you to easily wear the belt high or low on your waist, or even better… share it among girlfriends!

DC2tog – Double Crochet 2 Together
1. DC in 3rd CH from hook (skipped CH’s and first DC count as dc2tog), DC in next 5 CH’s, 2DC in next stitch, CH2, 2DC in next stitch, DC in next 5, DC2tog.
2. CH2, Turn, DC2tog, DC in next 6 stitches, (DC, CH2 DC) in CH2 space, DC in next 6 stitches, DC2tog.
Repeat row 2 until desired length is reached. (You will want the belt to overlap a bit so you can button it together).
Edging – Working with Color of Choice, determine which side you want to be right side
With right side facing, Join in on the edge of any DC and evenly SC along the edge toward the base chain. Work 2SC in corner of base chain, 1SC in each CH across, 2SC in next corner of base chain. Evenly work SC along other edge towards point of belt. Work 1SC in the top of each DC, work 3SC in CH2 space, continue working 1SC in the top of each DC. Evenly SC along original edge until you can Join with Invisible Join – Tutorial found HERE
Attaching Buttons – I highly suggest taking your belt with you when you pick out your buttons to make sure they fit through the CH2 spaces!

I have 4 buttons that are stitched to the CH2 on the right side of the belt that is worn closest to the body. I have 1 small black flat button that is stitched to the wrong side of the point of the belt. This single black button helps the point to lay flat regardless of if there is a button at the point. Making it possible for larger and smaller framed ladies to wear this adorable belt.
