Pinwheel in the Third

As I continue my pursuit of new stitches I decided I would try my hand at making a washcloth using the HDC in the Third Loop.  I love how it turned out.  I really do wish I could claim the slight rotation in the pattern to have been by design but….  So instead I can be happy that even though it does not look exactly as I had pictured in my mind, I do love the final look.  (Now to figure out how to make it square as I had intended)

TLHDC – Third Loop Half Double Crochet – Tutorial by Moogly Blog

*Note*  I list the Third Loop Half Double Crochet simply as HDC.  Do not be confused.  I chose to do this simply because a regular HDC is not used in the pattern

Magic Circle
1. CH1, *2HDC, CH2*, repeat from *to* 3 more times. Join in in the first HDC

2. Change Color CH1, TLHDC in same as joining and in next stitch, (HDC, CH2, HDC) all in the CH2 space, *TLHDC in the next 2 stitches, (HDC, CH2, HDC) all in the CH2 space*, repeat from *to* around. Join in the loop below the 3rd loop. (16Stitches, 4 CH2 spaces)3rd Loop Washcloth - KatiDCreations

Repeat row 2 until desired size is reached. Each row you will increase the total number of stitches by 8 (so row 3 will have 24 stitches, 4 CH2 spaces)

Edging: The final joining prior to the edging row will be done in the top 2 loops. Using color of choice for edging, Join in any SC and CH1, SC in same as joining and across to CH2 space, work 4SC in CH2 space, *SC in next stitch and across to CH2 corner space, work 4SC in corner space*, repeat from *to* around. Finish off and Join

Did you miss a few of the washcloths?  I know several people have mentioned that these are too pretty to wash dishes with…well here is a few more ideas.  1. A personalized washcloth for a guest to use while they are visiting, 2. A serviette for meal time, 3. Use them as hot pads (the ones that hold the hot dish, not the ones you carry the hot dish with)Wash Cloth - Cluster Drop StitchWashclothCeltic Weave Color Change TutorialTiny Towels Wash Clothes
