Optical Illusion Square

Its amazing that by simply changing the number of rows between color changes can create such a different look from the original pattern!

This first square was the original design.  Mosaic Ripples - KatiDCreations.com

The only thing I did different to create the very different looking square is to change the color every row.

3. When working the FP MDC you will be working around the post of the stitch worked 2 rows prior
4. When working the FP TC you will be working around the post st completed 3 rows prior
5. When you ‘sk next st’, it refers to the stitch you would have worked in if you had not done the post stitch

For help with stitch placement you can check out this tutorial by KatiDCreations HERE!

Bullion’s in Bloom

This site contains affiliate links and I may be compensated for items purchased…..which means more FREE patterns for you!

Here is my second 12′ square.  This one did not come near as easily as the first one did! The biggest problem was trying to figure out which stitches I wanted to use.  After several attempts at making a flower that was not turning out anywhere close to what I was picturing in my head; I decided it was time to go in a completely new direction.

Now something you may not know about me is I like to push myself; so I figured why not learn a new stitch!? So after searching around a bit I came across the Bullion Stitch.  This stitch is a beautiful, but apparently it is a bit of a challenge to master; and I now was down to 3 days to master this stitch and design a square using it.  Can we say ‘procrastinate much’?  But, that’s okay; I love the rush as a deadline quickly approaches.

Don’t forget to Favorite this design and add it to your Library in Raverly!

I have had the privilege of this square being included in Moogly 2015 Afghan CAL!  You can check out the other amazing free 12inch squares HERE

This beautiful Tulip Motif top is so beautiful!  The Plymouth Cleo cotton yarn used is so light weight that it makes this a perfect summer top!

The pattern for this shirt is only offered in a diagram form.  I found writing the pattern for joining the squares together to be rather difficult, so I had diagrams made.  However, if you would like the pattern for just the Tulip Square you can find that HERE.

Here are the measurements for the completed Tulip Motif Top.  If you want to make the top longer (possibly a dress, you will simply continue making squares and adding them in the Picots)

This was my first time working with Plymouth Cleo cotton yarn and it won’t be my last.  Plymouth Cleo yarn is so smooth, almost to the point of silky as it glides through your fingers.  The cotton is so light weight and airy that you won’t mind working with it on those warmer days, and it’s perfect for those light weight tops!Plymouth Cleo - KatiDCreations

Plymouth Cleo Yarn comes in a great selection of colors found HERE, and are all so rich that it really is difficult to choose just one color!

When we first think of spring, we think of bright warm colors, so that is what I hope you see; (regardless of how much snow may be piled in the parking lot).Bloom of Spring

This is a large 12×12 inch granny square that works up really quickly and is really beautiful!  Plus with it being made with Red Heart with Love it is super soft!  I think this would make a beautiful afghan!  and with the squares being so large it would not that that many for a decent sized blanket!  Or even a Granny Square Poncho!
