Ring of Petals – Barefoot Sandals

After making the Circle Foot Jewelry and the Circle Belt, I had a few left over plastic rings and decided that another pair of quick super simple barefoot sandals is in order.Ring of Petals - KatiDCreations
This quick working sandal is so simple to make and is a great way to use up that last little bit of crochet thread that you just cant bring yourself to get rid of!  This is a relatively easy pattern, and a beginner with a small bit of crochet experience should be able to accomplish these with no problem.

Difficulty: Easy

Materials:
9steel hook/1.4mm
Aunt Lydia’s Thread – size 10
Sewing Needle
3/4 inch plastic rings – found at local craft stores

Stitches:
SLST – Slip Stitch
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet

Special Stitches:
Drop Stitch Single Crochet – Drop Stitch SC – Insert your hook into specified stitch and SC as normal
SC around the Post – with back of work facing you, insert your hook in between stitches two from back of your work to the front and then again to the back again, YO and pull through (creating a SC around the Post) – Tutorial can be found HERE by Meladora’s Creations for Crochet if you are needing additional helpRing of Petals - KatiDCreations

*Note* This design is intended to be worked in sets of 3, so if you chose to use a different sized ring, simply make sure your number of SC around the ring is divisible by 3

Ring of Petals

SLST around ring and CH1,

Row1:  Work 33SC around ring, join with SLST into first SC. Right side

Row2:  CH5, *skip next 2 SC and SLST in next, CH5*, repeat from *to* around. Join in same stitch as joining SLST of Row1. Pull up a loop.  DO NOT finish off

Toe Loop: Remove your hook from the loop and working from the back of you work, insert the hook into the same SC that your last joining SLST was worked into, grab the pulled up loop with hook and pull the loop to the back of your work.  Tighten the loop back around your hook and CH desired length (about 40) and SLST back into same space as last SLST.  Finish off.

Circle Foot Jewelry

Well, its getting to be that time of year again when I can’t wait to go barefoot and feel the warm earth under my feet.  (Okay, its only the second week of February so I might have the ‘itch’ a bit early)

So, when I stumbled upon this beautiful Circle Necklace by Cre8tions Crochet I knew I could take the tutorial, change just a few basic things and have some beautiful foot jewelry.
Ring Necklace, Cre8tions Crochet
Materials:
Plastic Rings – I used 1/2, 3/4 and 1 1/8th inch
Size 10 thread – Aunt Lydia’s
2.25mm hook/3 steel
Sewing needle that you can thread the thread through, but is small enough to thread beads on

Keeping it simple – I followed the basic directions listed on Cre8tions Crochet – Circle Necklace (while using size 10 thread) for crocheting the circles, deciding circle placement (keeping in mind that it will go on my foot and not around my neck) and connecting/placing beads.

Where my design varies is –

Toe loop: Join with a Slip Stitch in the top of a Single Crochet working from front to the back, then Chain necessary length to go around my toe and join with another Slip Stitch in the same Single Crochet this time working from the back to the front, finish off.  (this keeps both unfinished ends on the back)  Tie a secure knot and then worked ends back under a few Single Crochets on the back side of ring.

Ankle tie: *Join with a Slip Stitch in the top of a Single Crochet working from front to the back, Chain necessary length to tie around ankle, and finish off*, repeat from *to* once more.  Tie a secure knot where the two ties are and then work ends back under a few Single Crochets on the back side of ring.

If you are curious where I got those cute Nail Wraps, they are Jamberry!  I really love them and are (in my opinion) so worth the time and money!
